During the Spring 2025 semester, I had the opportunity to take JCM 491: Social Media Storytelling with Dr. Jessica Maddox. Throughout the course, I learned how to create a wide variety of social media content. Not only have these new skills boosted my abilities in social media content creation, but they also have enhanced my work in more traditional forms of media production.


Short Form Video Content: “Day in My Life” Reels

For the “Day in My Life” vlog assignment, I gave a sneak peak of my everyday life as a college student who also works in sports production. Through the projects, I gained the ability to mutlitask and film on the go.


Short-Form Video: Nonfiction Storytime Reels

For the non-fiction storytime assignment, I was able to learn and teach about the rising role of women in the sports industry. I utilized social media production techniques to make the information digestible to audiences.

I applied the skills I learned through our short-form video assignments, as well as new skills unique to long-form social media videos, to create a video essay exploring the merger of the fashion and sports industries.

Long-Form Video: Live Stream

For the live stream assignment, I shared my go-to essentials for performing to my best ability in the sports industry while maintaining an academic life and feminine aesthetic. I also shared information about how I got involved in sports broadcasting while still in college. The aim of the video was to give some guidance to young women interested in sports production.
